Sonia started her career as an RN in 1997 doing diabetic teaching at Vista Community Clinic. Sonia began working as a peritoneal dialysis nurse in 2005, and joined the HDT team in 2007 in a per diem role. Sonia is one of the nurses who will help you should the need arise for you to speak with an on-call nurse after normal hours or on the weekend. We are here to help you 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. She is originally from Colombia, and prides herself that being the mother of 3 children is her full-time job. She brings enthusiasm and kindheartedness when caring for her patients, and appreciates the role that each patient plays in their own family.
For Sonia, one of the best things about a nursing is teaching, and empowering her patients to help them be independent. Sonia feels there are innumerable good things about HDT, but she is most proud of the fact that we all strive to give our patients the very best. Everyone on the team is kind and caring; we give our patient warm professional care. Our goal is to keep our patients happy and healthy, as well as to maintain readiness for a transplant if that is part of the patients’ plan. Why does Sonia recommend HDT to you or your loved one? Because, at HDT, as our patient, you will get the best home dialysis care.
